Nothing much going on right now, except I’m enjoying today’s OU Women’s softball game. This is the second game of the best of three series called the Super Regional in Oklahoma City at Norman.
Yesterday, OU beat Washington 4 to 2, so today can finish it off if OU can win. Washington would have to win today and tomorrow which would have them beating OU twice in a row. Ah, only two teams have beat OU all year.
OU got off to a good start by getting a run in the first on a wild pitch. Then in the second inning, OU just three more runs to go up 4 o 0. In The bottom of the second inning Washington got their only run. Then in the top of the third, OU started clobbering the ball. Two home runs drove in three runs to make it 7 to 1.
That’s where we’re at now in the bottom of the 4th. OU has got another run on a couple of doubles and now leads 8 to 1 with a runner on second. If that runner scores, it could be a “Run Rule” game!
And it did! Another double and a run scored. OU leads 9 to 1 in the top of the fifth. Washington will have to score to keep the game going. OU has two outs, but they continue to score runs! Another single with the runner on 1st going to third. So now two on and two outs! Ok, that’s the third out and Washington come up in the bottom of the 5th. They have to score a run or two or the games over!
Ground out to second. That’s one out!
Slow roller back to the pitcher, over to 1st and out number 2!
Ok, so that was a single after she had her at 2 strikes. Runner on 1st, next batter.
Now it’s 2 and 2 on this batter. Deep fly ball, but it caught deep by the right fielder going back to the wall. That’s the game!
OU wins and is headed to the College World Series!
