Final Score: TTU 21 – OU 52
Ok, I didn’t watch any of this game and I didn’t even check the score until 4:00 pm when it was half time. Surprisingly, OU was ahead 28 to 7 at that point. We left to go eat dinner and I got glimpses of the game at BJ’s and all OU did was score! They apparently did very well on both sides of the ball. The D had two interceptions and one fumble so that will make them happy. C. Williams threw 6 Touch Down passes and even Spencer Rattler got a TD pass in the fourth quarter. So, it was a very good game for a change and no where near close. Finally!
11/03/2021 – Watched the OU – TTU playback and it was very enjoyable. There were a few things I noticed.
The offensive line still isn’t blocking very well. Our running backs aren’t very speedy off the start. They kind of hesitate looking for huge holes which aren’t there. I think we need a speedster in the backfield to change up the tempo of our run game. Even Brooks just seems too hesitant at times as does Eric Gray. Still, in this game they didn’t get many opportunities.
There are still some terrible coverage in the OU defensive background. Even if they are around the ball, the don’t know what to do or how to breakup a pass. They are letting the offensive receiver catch the ball clean too many times. We’re also having trouble tackling. We made it in the TTU backfield on a number of occasions, yet the first guy couldn’t make the tackle. They also don’t use very good technic when tackling they throw the runner forward instead of driving them backwards.
Still, this was a good defensive game for OU, but should have been much better. It will have to be in coming games.
Offensively, it’s just a good thing that C. Williams carefully picked his targets and made pin-point passes. He did throw into tight coverage a few times, but most of the time he was on target very well. There were a lot of passes even though OU only ran 55 snaps.
