Final Score: TCU 31 – OU 52
Ok, the whole thing leading up to this game was whether Caleb Williams would start instead of Spencer Rattler. Lincoln Riley hasn’t made his decision and won’t do so until game time. So, let’s see what happens.
Well, it’s Caleb Williams starting for OU. Not very surprising to me after his performance in the Texas game. I don’t think too many others doubted that he wouldn’t start. Caleb looks like he’s ready for some fun!
Williams got a big cheer from the OU crowd when he was announced as the starting QB. Let’s see if can do something, anything better than stuck-up Rattler.
OU’s offense seemed much smoother in this game. Williams was finding receivers and hitting them although some of his passes were a little off target. Still, our receivers did show they know how to catch a pass if it’s thrown to them. We’re still making way, way too many mistakes, especially in the O-line. We’ve lost two long pass plays due to just mental errors by the offense. Well at least the score at half time was decent with OU leading 24 t0 14!
The offense is moving quicker under Williams. I don’t know why, but they seem to be more responsive in this game. Williams throws a bullet to Hazelwood in the end zone for at TD and OU goes up by 17. We haven’t been this far ahead of anyone this year. Well, that led didn’t last long, TCU just came back and scored another TD. TCU definitely made some mistakes that cost them. Their botched on-side kicked really put OU in good field position.
Our defense sucked big time again especially in the secondary! We couldn’t stop a pass if our life depended on it. We also didn’t have much of a pass rush and didn’t get hardly any sacks at all. And this was with a QB who had a broken bone in his foot. He shouldn’t have been able to avoid our guys, but they just don’t know how to tackle and we’re six games into the season already! That secondary needs to get fixed. We have some guys out due to injuries so I hope they can get healthy and come back to make a difference. We’re going to need them after Kansas and Tex Tech. Iowa State, Baylor and OSU are going to give us problems.
I also have to agree with everyone else. Spencer Rattler has lost his job as the OU starting QB. He’ll not get it back from Caleb Williams. Don’t expect to see Rattler on the team come next year! Don’t think I’ll be disappointed either!
