Gotta’ post something on our 51st Wedding Anniversary! I’m sitting here waiting for the florist to deliver my order. It should have been delivered earlier this morning, but hasn’t happened just yet! I hope they don’t wait until we got to dinner.
3:40 – Flowers were finally delivered so that’s done. They almost forgot the candy, but fortunately I ran out to the delivery vehicle and she was still sitting there. When I mentioned the candy, she got another bag out of her truck and I toke it in and gave it to Ramona. I know she doesn’t like me spending the money just for flowers, but I’m doing this because I love doing things for her.
Now, I’m watching the OU Women’s Softball team playing in the Super Regional against Washington. It’s about the 5th inning and OU has a 2 to 1 lead. It’s going to be tight the whole game.
18:35 – I got to watch the entire game before going to dinner. OU bats came alive in the 5th and scored three runs, one was an inside-the-park home
run off a fielding error by the center-fielder. OU’s catcher was the one that ran the bases and she’s not necessarily fast, but Patty Gasso knew that every run was going to count, so she sent her home and she slide just under the tag. I think officially it was a single with an error on the center-fielder. Washington doesn’t make many of those and this one was a surprise.
OU went into the seventh still up 4 to 1 and then Washington tried to put on a rally. Their first batter hit it out of the park to make it 4 to 2. Then, they got two on, one by walk and the other was a fielding error. So with one on first and third with only one out, OU had to hang on. A roller to the second baseman got the out at 1st, but the runner on third was trying to score. It went from 1st to the catcher and she made the tag well before the runner came close to home plate for the third and final out of the game! So, OU goes up 1 game to 0 in a best of three series.
Tomorrow’s game will be at 2 pm CST and it will be televised on ABC. This will be an historic ocassion since none of the big time networks have ever broadcast a women’s softball game before. OU will be making history and if they win, then they’ll be going to the College World Series. Washington has to win two straight against OU and that’s not been done all year!
